Add a Blogarithm form or button to your TypePad blog:

If your weblog is managed through Typepad (i.e., hosted on typepad.com or blogs.com), you will create a TypeList to contain the Blogarithm form and add it to your blog. The following steps show how to do that.

  1. Go to http://www.typepad.com/ and log in:
  2. Find your list of blogs in the upper right corner. Click on the title of your blog.
  3. This takes your blog management page. You are going to create a new TypeList, and then add that list to your blog. To create the TypeList, start by selecting the "TypeLists" tab on the right of the page. (Generic instructions for adding HTML to your TypeList can be found at: http://help.typepad.com/typelists/tips.html#displaying_custom_html).
  4. On the lower right of the TypeLists page, there is a box that allows you to create a new list. Choose "Notes" from the dropdown, and "Blogarithm" as the name of your list. Click "Create new list".
  5. You are now on a page to manage the "Blogarithm" TypeList. You want to add a new item to it, so click "Add a new item"
  6. A small window will pop up. It has a text box for a note, and that is where you will paste the HTML that was generated for your form. Here is the window before:
  7. Paste the HTML you generated on the Blogger Tools page into the box labeled "Note:". Leave the "Label" field blank.

  8. Click the "Save Item" button to save your note. You can then close the small window.
  9. You have created the TypeList. Now you need to add it to your weblog. (Generic instructions on adding TypeLists to your weblog can be found here: http://help.typepad.com/typelists/tips.html#displaying_typelists_on_your_weblog).
  10. Click on the "Weblogs" tab on the upper right. Then choose "Edit Design" from the set of shortcut links on the right side of the page.

  11. Click the "Change Content Selections" link in the lower left:
  12. This brings up the Content Selections page. In the section labeled "Your TypeLists" there will be a list called "Blogarithm (Notes)." Check the box next to it.
  13. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. There you will find a "Save Changes" button. Click it.
  14. The form is now on your site! There is one more thing you can do to make the form more prominent so your readers are more likely to subscribe. You should be on the "Edit Current Design" page. Click on the "Change Ordering" link in the lower left.
  15. You are now on the "Content Ordering" page. It has a screen that you can drag elements around on to reorder how they will look on your blog. I've dragged the "Blogarithm" TypeList up to sit between "About Page Link" and "Recent Posts". Again, click "Save Changes."
  16. You're done! Here's how it looks:
