More Accurate
Since our site update in June, when we changed our look, we have been busy working behind the scenes. Last night we launched changes to the way we track blogs that will make our notifications more accurate. Our philosophy has been to minimize the number of false negatives -- the number of times a blog has actually changed but we fail to report it. With our new release we are reducing the number of false positives -- there will be fewer times when you receive a notification for a blog that has not changed. Given the ever-changing nature of the Internet, I doubt we will ever be 100% accurate. But as our FAQ says:
We will continue to make improvements so that our technology will be even more accurate in the future.Posted by Andy MacDonald at August 15, 2005 03:14 AM
Hi guys,
great work and I appreciate the fact that you have kept this a free service for so long.
My blog uses your "Keep it Fresh!" form. If I can make a suggestion, I'd really like to see how many people subscribe to my blog through Blogarithm. Perhaps the number of people who use Blogarith for my blog can be a stat on the "Keep it Fresh!" form.
Cheers
Hi Amit,
Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you like the service and have the form on your site.
We have been considering adding a feature like you suggest. In order to do that, we would have to use javascript to generate the form instead of the html we have currently. This is relatively easy for us to do, but we are concerned bloggers might be turned off by having to add javascript to their blogs. What is your opinion? Would you add a form based on javascript?
Hi Andy,
that was a quick response. Let me confess that despite being a 'low ranking nerd' as mentioned on my blog, I am somewhat illiterate when it comes to software and technology.
But I think I am already using javascript on my blog for Google's AdSense and for my hit counters (NedStat and BlogPatrol). So I have no problem in adding your javascript form to my blog as long I don't need to write the code. :^)
Cheers

You're right. If you are using AdSense, you are using Javascript. Thanks for letting us know you are ok with it -- that helps us a lot in our decision making.
We'll do what we can to get your requested feature out. It won't be in the next release, but may be in the one after.
